Throughout 2023, METRO Ukraine ran its signature “Shurshdni” — a playful wordplay on the rustling of plastic bags during discount shopping. But during the intense Black Friday period, the challenge was to cut through the retail noise in a saturated market. To do so, we launched Gala Shurshdni: the final, most spectacular act of the year. Instead of shouting louder about sales, we composed a symphony played entirely on custom-made bag instruments. Violins, trombones, snares, and even cymbals — all built from METRO bags. The performance was filmed inside a real METRO store, with a sophisticated visual aesthetic and dark blue color palette (a soft counterpoint to Black Friday's visual aggression). The result? 160% in-store traffic growth and an ROI of 850%. Gala Shurshdni was a crescendo of savings — and a standout finale in the brand’s ongoing musical discount saga.
